Find out about the selection process for different types of roles with Camp Beaumont.

Staff selection process

Apply online

The first step is to apply online, the application form should take no more than five minutes to complete and will set you on your way to a job with us!

Once you have applied, a friendly member of the recruitment team will give you a call to talk through your application, and give you more information about the assessment stage.

Staff Assessment Event (1 day)

After a successful application, you will be invited to come to a Staff Assessment Event. We a number of these from January through to June, so there’s guaranteed to be a date you can make! The earlier you come to an assessment, the better your chance of getting the job you want with us. These assessments take place in venues across London. We also run one assessment event in September for October Half Term and one in December for Christmas candidates.

Staff Contract

If successful at the Assessment Day, we will then issue you with a contract to work for us. It is vital that you get this signed and send back all the relevant paperwork as quickly as possible to ensure a smooth employment. As read above, to work with us here at Camp Beaumont you are required to complete a DBS Check. This is a pre-requisite of working for us and your contract could be withdrawn if you fail to complete the check or if the check returns with unsatisfactory results.

DBS Check

It is the employee's responsibility to pay for the enhanced DBS check, the current cost is £52.40 which includes an admin fee. Camp Beaumont can arrange and will pay for this on behalf of the employee, the cost of which will then be deducted from your wages. Camp Beaumont in no way profits from this check, if we had our way it would be free! We do accept existing enhanced DBS checks if the employee has signed up to the 'DBS Update Service' and we are able to check their existing DBS.

Two references

To be able to start working for Camp Beaumont you must also have two satisfactory professional references, we will contact the referees that you provide. Like the DBS check, if these references are not satisfactory or we don't receive them, the offer of a position with us may be withdrawn.

Staff training

CORE Staff Training (1 Day)

Training is crucial to the success of Camp Beaumont, we run CORE Training Events throughout the year and it is vital that you attend. As an added incentive your hourly wage will increase and you will receive an in-house training certificate once you have attended this training!

Level 1 Safeguarding Training (1 Day)

New for 2019, it is compulsory that all Camp Beaumont Staff receive a Level 1 Safeguarding qualification and we will be running courses throughout the year. This certificate is transferable across organisations so you can use this for other jobs outside of Camp Beaumont should you wish.

Specialist Staff Training (1 Day)

We also offer Paediatric First Aid, Quad Biking, Archery and Fencing Qualifications to those staff applying as Activity Instructors or in positions where first aid may be required. The length of these courses vary from 1 day to 2 days but you will come away with a qualification at the end which you can use outside of Camp Beaumont should you wish. If you would like to be a Motorsports or Archery instructor at Easter or Summer then attendance at one or both of these courses is compulsory.

Staff induction

This is the Saturday afternoon (12.00 to 16.00) prior to the camp opening where you are able to meet your team, familiarise yourself with the site and help to set it up ready for all the children arriving for their first day! Prior to the summer, this will take place from 10.00 to 15.00pm on the Saturday due to more setting up and larger facilities. - This is compulsory and you will be paid for your time should you complete your contract as agreed.

Management selection process

Phone interview

If you are successful you will be asked to call us to book a telephone interview with our Recruitment Team. This is an initial screening process designed to see whether you are the right person to go forward in the Management process to gain one of the top jobs on one of our sites across London and the Home Counties.

Group interview

After a successful telephone interview, you will be given a few dates when we will be conducting group interviews in Central London. We try and choose venues that are central to make it as easy as possible for all candidates. The group interview will be approximately an hour and 15 minutes long and will be with the Operations Director and members of the Recruitment Team. This gives us the perfect opportunity to meet you and get a feel for your skill and passion for a job with us, whilst seeing how you can present yourself and work with others!

Management Assessment Event (1 day)

So you are the kind of person that we are looking for! You will get an invitation to a Management Assessment Event, these days are a lot of fun, with like-minded individuals who all want to work with and for the best! There are loads of activities and tasks to allow us to assess you and see if you would make a great member of our management or operations team! - These events will take place in venues across London.

Training is vital to the successful operations of our camps and we run a number of Management Training Event throughout the year, again it is great fun and this time the pressure is off as you all have your jobs! You will get some intensive training and really understand our culture, values and what makes us the most experienced and best Day Camp operator in the UK. - This is compulsory for new members of Management and all returning Management must attend one per year.

Level 1 Safeguarding Training (1 Day)

This is the Saturday or weekend (summer only) prior to the camp opening where you will set up camp, induct your staff team, get them familiar with the site and with each other. This is a great opportunity to make your mark and set the base for an amazing camp! - This is compulsory and you will be paid for your time should you complete your contract as agreed.

Operations selection process

The Operations Team selection process is fairly similar to that of the Management Teams with some minor differences...

Set up and closedown support

You may be required to assist with support and/or logistics to ensure a smooth opening and closing of all of our camps. This will mean the odd weekend you may have to work along with some early starts and/or late finishes.
